Founded in 1976

Welcome to the Force Eight Sea Angling Club web page. We are going to bring you the adventures and stories of this active Sea Angling club based in the heart of Wiltshire, England.

Our interests range from general open sea (ground & uptiding), wreck, reef and not forgetting shore fishing. Our usual haunts for boat fishing include Minehead, on the Bristol Channel and West Bay, Hayling Island, Langstone and Poole along the coast of Southern England.

Shore venues range from Brean to Minehead along the Bristol Channel coast and just about anywhere along the South coast.

Week-end trips further afield are arranged most years. Past trips have included Tenby, Littlehampton, Anglesey, Newquay, Penzance, Fowey, Ilfracombe and Newhaven.

As this page is built up, pictures will be included of ourselves, but most importantly, the fish caught.

How It All Began

Force Eight SAC was founded in 1976 and 2001 will see us celebrate our silver jubilee. Back in those early days when eight keen anglers first got together to fish a boat once a month from Weymouth, it was not our intention or had even crossed our minds to form a club. But due to local interest from other like minded anglers asking if ever spare places on the boat become available, they would take any spare seats, and so, on September 12, 1976, Force Eight SAC came into being.

Our aim then and still to this day, is to foster and promote interest in this exciting branch of angling within Wiltshire. We are also keen to encourage junior anglers, some, now adults, are still with the club and have become expert anglers in their own right.
