Say No to Plastic Bags

  • Are you concerned that there’s too much traffic on the roads?
  • Do you worry about what goes into the food we eat?
  • Would you like the world we live in to be a nicer place for our children?
  • Are you interested in green issues, recycling and reuse, transport, the environment?
  • Would you like to become part of a new, vibrant community in Melksham?

Who Are We?

We are a group of local people who meet up to discuss local 'green' issues and put on events in our town, to bring an awareness of climate change and ways that its residents can be more friendly to their environment.

Our meetings are held on the FIRST WEDNESDAY of EVERY MONTH at 8.00pm at the Spencers Sports & Social Club, Beanacre Road, Melksham. Please feel free to come along - new members always welcome!

This group is a part of the Wiltshire Wildlife Trust's Climate Friendly Communities scheme. To read more about the scheme visit www.wiltshirewildlife.org

Shrink Your Waste in 2008

The Waste Minimisation Team at Wiltshire Wildlife Trust want to encourage everyone to make 2008 the year they trim their waste as well as their waists. The team have a few suggestions that will help to make 2008 greener.

  1. Be smart with your shopping - buy local food!
  2. Choose products with the minimum of packaging!
  3. Plastic is NOT fantastic! Lots of it is hard to recycle, and its manufacture uses precious natural resources.
  4. Start composting and help save our world! Composting can halve the amount of rubbish you produce.
